Classical Piano
In this lesson stream we focus in on learning to play beautiful classical music. It is recommended that students own an acoustic piano for this style but certainly not crucial.
Aside from enjoying beautiful music, one of our aims will be to work in accordance with AMEB standards in the case that students want to take AMEB exams. Listed below are the topics that will be emphasised.
Sight reading/understanding sheet music notation
Ear training of intervals and Rhythmic Dictation
Playing with a metronome
Music Theory
Music History

Alternative Piano
This stream is perfect for beginners because it focuses on building a foundation in playing/enjoying the piano before introducing the challenges of reading musical notation. Learning to read notation and how to play at the same time is a common reason that many people give up on playing the piano. This course is a response to that. Not everyone learns the same way! Musical notation is still gradually introduced(not enforced), but it is after students are already playing and have a general understanding of the piano.
Listed below are some of the topics that will be emphasised.
Key familiarisation
Chord Structure/Playing in time
Playing melodies over chords
Singing and playing at the same time
Contemporary piano music
