With 230 strings, at around 73 kilos of tension on each string, a typical piano has around 18 tons of tension inside.
Due to movement or a change in season/humidity, a piano's wooden components are subject to swelling/shrinking
which causes piano strings to come out of tune.

Standard Tuning - $250
A standard tuning is available when the piano is less than 25 cents flat. Usually an option when the piano has been tuned within the last 6 months to a year.
Pitch Raise A440 - $350
Pianos that are more than 50 cents flat will require a pitch raise (meaning the piano is tuned twice).
